Are we workaholics or is it just that we don't have a pension plan organised? Mine won't kick in till I'm 70, but I would no doubt get bored without a translation to think about and discuss... but I am planning to go part-time from 65...

I'll have to retire one day, otherwise some poor client is going to be waiting and getting angry with me for not completing a project because he or she has not heard that I've popped my clogs.
I voted 65-70, though that is still quite a long way away.
And no, I won't get bored. During my youth I have only travelled round Europe. During my retirement, if I'm still fit I hope to travel a bit around the other continents of this world.

I retired early from my previous profession for personal reasons. I now live in Valencia, Spain (in the city, not on the costas), where I studied Spanish and worked (voluntarily) in a local hospital to assimilate my English knowledge of my subjects with the Spanish version. Little by little I was asked to translate abstracts and articles for publishing in medical scientific journals. I now make a reasonable living as it supplements my measly NHS pension after almost 40 years of work.

Now most of my ex-colleagues envy me as I work from home, doing a job I love, with (mainly) hours that suit me and can enjoy the more relaxing lifestyle in Spain, just 10 minutes from a large beach on the Mediterranean.
