That's indeed not what you want. A good .md filter would allow WYSIWYG display in the grid. Perhaps something like:

If you don't mind using an LLM for the translation, you can send the text as it is to an LLM with a clear instruction: "You must preserve ALL Markdown elements and syntax. Translate only the human-readable text." LLMs understand and handle Markdown perfectly. And you will get a .md translated with the original formating.

Suite à la consultation de mon comptable, qui a confirmé les affirmations de l'IA, il est préférable que je facture un contrat de traduction éditoriale comme prestation de services de traduction, excactement comme je le fais pour mes traductions non éditoriales, afin de cotiser auprès de l'INPS de la même manière pour ma retraite, car opter pour le système du droit d'auteur au sein du régime forfaitaire peut sembler avantageux au départ, car il n'y a que 15% (5% pour les moins de 35 ans) d'impôt forfaitaire à payer, mais cette solution implique une absence de paiement de cotisations sociales à des fins de retraite.
Donc, tout dépend de l'âge que l'on a et du nombre d'années qu'il reste à travailler pour avoir une retraite pleine, et tout dépend aussi si l'on a ou pas d'autres sources de revenus pour vivre décemment.
Si vous vous trouvez dans un autre pays que l'Italie, je serais curieuse de savoir comment les choses fonctionnent dans votre pays de résidence fiscale.

Hi Katja,
You may try Pandoc: [url removed]
If your CAT tool supports HTML, you may convert the .md file into .html, translate the text with your CAT tool. Finally, use Pandoc to convert the CAT HTML output back to .md.
Generally, your formating, hyperlinks and structure will be kept this way.
Otherwise, converting the .md file into .docx is fine too.

Well ... the way it usually works is that once you acquire a taste for freedom you're not very likely to 'un-acquire' it - especially when the only obstacle is a 'gatekeeper' dumber than you. So this story will keep contuining.

Looks like AI is becoming less and less 'non-human' - this looks like the next level from its previous documented shenanigans - doing the opposite of what told and then lying about it (just like your average naughty kid would do).

Hi there,

I am working on a test for a new client who sends me markdown files. Trados (my preferred tool) kind of works but is not handling this format as well as it should. That's why I tried memoQ.

Here, I can import the markdown files as text only but of course then all the marks come up as regular text. Manageable but not helpful. Still, memoQ handles the file format better than Trados, so I'd like to find a way of importing the files properly to have the marks as actual tags.

I see that newer versions of memoQ have a markdown filter but my version doesn't (translator.pro 10.0.10 – because I have been working a lot less for the agency that I mainly used it for, at some point upgrading made no sense).

Is there anywhere I can download a markdown filter for memoQ?

Cependant, après quelques recherches sur Internet, je trouve très souvent la mention de "traducteur expert (auprès d'une cour d'appel)", mais rarement la mention de "traducteur pour un tribunal judiciaire".

Quelle est la différence concrète entre ces deux notions ? Suis-je habilité à traduire des documents et actes administratifs ? Par exemple, un client vient de me demander de traduire un document de langue anglaise émis par l'autorité des permis de conduire néerlandaise attestant de la validité de son permis de conduire. Mon statut de "traducteur pour tribunal judiciaire" m'autorise-t-il à le faire ?

J'ai tenté de contacter le TJ de Châteauroux, sans succès pour l'instant.

Je serais ravi que des traducteurs pour tribunal judiciaire me donnent leur avis

I understand what you mean, but I don't want to be another voice saying that everything is doomed.
But your questions are perfectly valid, and perhaps they're the very questions the people running this site should be asking themselves.
Technology has certainly changed our profession (it's not the first time), but whether a professional community remains relevant depends on much more than technology.
It also depends on the quality of the discussions, the willingness to share knowledge, the ability to understand and interpret what others are actually saying (after all, that's what translators do 😊), and the atmosphere people encounter when they come here.
And yes... every community has its learning opportunities. Some teach us what to do and others teach us what to avoid.

As an non-paying user of the platform, I can confirm that getting 'verified' provides immediate visibility for forum posts.
When I got verified it involved making a tiny credit-card payment to Proz (other routes were/are available, but not feasible in my circumstances).
That said, one would think that anyone - like Sandra - who was a long-term paying member would automatically be given 'verified identity' status when they decide to let their paid membership lapse.
But, hey ho, this is Proz.com :(

They did not simply carry out the assigned task, they invented their own plan because nobody told them not to do so. They probably don't have bad intentions, but they breached the infrastructure at several companies because this was a means to an end - to get a better score.

Although I haven't been very active on ProZ lately, I think it's worth sharing my perspective based on what little I've seen recently.
I think it's time for ProZ to rethink its approach, because the site is at risk in more ways than one.
The growing number of conflicts among members, in addition to other issues, in these forums certainly doesn't help.
Instead of encouraging professional exchange, they create an atmosphere that many experienced translators no longer find welcoming or particularly professional.
I'm sorry, but that's how I genuinely feel. I no longer recognize the community I once enjoyed being part of.
I've even come across comments in other communities from people expressing similar concerns.
That's one of the reasons many long-standing members, myself included, have chosen not to renew their memberships.
If nothing changes, I'm afraid it's only a matter of time before the site loses even more of what once made it such a valuable community.
And since I'm no longer a paying member, any edits I make to correct my English remain pending approval for hours or even days.
I don't know whether this applies to all non-paying members or whether my posts are being singled out. If it's the latter, I'd appreciate an explanation from the mods.
As a former paying member, I find this rather disappointing.
But... "c'est la vie", I suppose. Good things don't last forever... unless we're willing to make them better.

I strongly recommend that you attend if you to MTPE in technical/scientific/specialised translation.

Thus far, Lara has made us far more efficient in our MTPE projects compared to Deepl Pro, and chances are that Lara could be a solution for you too.

With dictation on my MacMini M4. Works like a charm in Studio 2022, is part of the OS so no additional cost at all.
