Source text - German Bill hatte ein wenig Schwierigkeiten, seinen Sohn zu erziehen. Wisst ihr, der Sohn gehorchte ihm nicht, machte ihm jede Menge Ärger und war auch in der Schule unaufmerksam. Er gab ihm wirklich eine Menge Herzleid. Eines Tages war Bill in der Bibelstunde. Sie diskutierten die Wunder der Bibel und der Pastor fragte: „Was waren einige der großen Wunder in der Bibel?“ Sie sprachen darüber, wie Moses einen Stab in eine Schlange verwandelte und das rote Meer teilte. Ein anderer sagte: „Ich glaube, dass der beste Teil in der Bibel ist, wie Jesus über das Wasser geht, die Kranken und die Augen der Blinden heilt.“
Bill hörte sich das alles an, und gegen Ende stand er auf und sagte: „Wisst ihr, ihr liegt alle falsch! Das größte Wunder in der Bibel ist, wo Josua seinem Sohn befahl stillzustehen und dieser gehorchte.“

En effet, celui-ci ne voulait pas l’écouter, lui causait souvent des ennuis et à l’école, également, il ne parvenait pas à se concentrer. Il lui donnait vraiment du fil à retordre. Un jour, Bill se trouvait à assister à un cours d’étude biblique. Alors qu’ils discutaient des miracles de la bible, le pasteur leur posa la question suivante : « Quels furent les grands miracles que l’on peut trouver dans la bible ? » Ils se mirent alors à évoquer par exemple Moïse transformant les bâtons en serpents, ou partageant la Mer Rouge en deux. Un autre participant se mit à dire: « Vous savez, je pense que la meilleure partie de la bible, c'est lorsque Jésus marche sur l'eau, guérit les malades, ouvre les yeux des gens aveugles. »
Bill ayant entendu tout cela, se leva vers la fin et dit: « Eh bien, vous avez tous tort ! Le plus grand miracle dans la bible, c'est lorsque Josué dit à son fils de rester calme et d'écouter et que ce dernier lui obéit. »

Source text - English Bill was having a little trouble raising his son. You know, the son would not listen to him, giving him trouble, not really paying attention in school. He was really giving him a lot of heartbreak. One day Bill was in the Bible study class. They were discussing the miracles in the Bible and the pastor was there and he was asking the people in the class, "What were some of the great miracles in the Bible?" So they were discussing Moses transforming the sticks into snakes, or opening up the Red Sea, parting the Red Sea. Another congregant said, “You know I really think the best part in the Bible is Jesus walking on the water, healing the sick, opening the eyes of those who are blind.”
But Bill heard this whole lecture, and towards the end he got up and said, “You know, all of you are wrong. The greatest miracle in the Bible was when Joshua told his son to stand still and he listened.”
