I was born in Bad Mergentheim in 1983 and grew up in Gerlachsheim and in Großrinderfeld later on (which is in the north of Baden-Württemberg near the Bavarian border). I went to primary school and then attended Matthias Grünewald Gymnasium from 1993 on. As I was and am curious about foreign languages and my father, who studied Latin and Greek at school himself, encouraged me to do so, I did Latin and took on English and French later on, which proved my gift with languages that had shown from the very beginning of my education. Therefore, I also chose French and Latin as my main subjects, which I passed my final exams in and came to be one of the best of my class. This then led me to take up studies in translation with the major French (B language) and minors Spanish (C language) and English (D language) as well as technical translation for supplementary subject at the School for Applied Linguistics and Cultural Studies in Germersheim in the winter term of 2002. I wrote my thesis on renewable energies, more precisely water power in France and Germany and graduated in the winter term on 2009 with a final result of 1,9. Languages and corresponding cultures remain a major priority in my professional future, which is why I would like to apply for a formation with German Foreign Ministry that would definitely suit my interests and abilities. My father also completed a formation in the administration sector gave me important, interesting and motivating information on his personal duties and tips for my application.
During my studies in Germersheim, I learnt a lot about how to deal with other languages, cultures and people from all over the world, as our faculty hosts students from more than 85 countries. Furthermore, I participated in student administration as our student parliament, international events organized by our university and helped foreign students get used to studying and living in Germany.
Apart from these practical experience in Germany, I went abroad and worked in the „Mémorial de Caen“, a museum in Normandy, in September 2004 and lived in Salamanca, Spain for half a year where I studied within the EU Erasmus program from January to June 2006. I learnt quite a few things about other cultures, lifestyles and ways of thinking as well as improved my language skills. This time spent abroad showed me very clearly that I had chosen my kind of studies and taken the right way in my scholar and professional formation.
I also take quite an interest in politics (especially EU politics) and international relations and would like to link these experiences with a beginnings as translator, but also my further professional life, which is another reason for my application.
I officially finished my studies in the winter term of 2009 when I worked as translator for IBM within a working student program that enabled me to have my first professional experience in my field.
I have no doubt about the fact that translation is where I see my personal and professional future. Therefore, I have been looking job offers that meet my qualifications and skills during this last term and since October 1st, 2009. Unfortunately, this search has turned out to be not so successful so far.
Even if applying for a formation with German Foreign Ministry means further formation, I would be pleased to face this challenge as new things always give me more experience in life and personal achievements.
Apart from all these professional qualities and skills I have, I think I am highly socially skilled person, which is very important in the field of international relations.
I grew up with a physically handicapped sister, who is seven years older than I am, which means I had to learn quite a few lessons about what it means to show consideration for others and how vital it is to take initiatives of your own.
Besides all that, my hobbies, spare-time activities and further interests cover computers, Internet, lecture of literature and press in German and other foreign languages and other media as cinema and DVD. I also am experienced in electronic data processing (Windows 3.1 to Vista, Ubuntu Linux, Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, basic HTML knowledge, image processing), which applies as well for current CAT software as Trados, Across and OmegaT.

Since February 2010, I have also been member of BDÜ (Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators).
