Opuściłem przymiotnik "different" umyślnie (chociaż pojawiał się nawet częściej niż "various/variable"), ale okazuje się, że też może być użyty (jednak ze szkodą dla jednoznaczności):

There are many different types of fabric.
I looked in lots of different books but couldn't find anything about it.
