Japanese term or phrase: 求める限り
Dear ProZ members,

I have a little doubt about this sentence taken from a cartoon. A warrior who always uses his sword to fight aims to make it "the ultimate sword". After defeating an enemy, he declares that...

我が剣は未だ完成を知らず... 更に鋭くなる... 我が心、求める限りな

How would you translate it?

1) My sword isn't perfect yet... It will become even more sharp... As much as my soul will wish for it.
2) My sword isn't perfect yet... It will become even more sharp... As long as my soul will wish for it.

Number one works better in my context, but is it grammatically possible?

Thank you very much!

English translation:as long as
Explanation:
My sword is yet to be complete; it will become sharper as long as my heart so desires.

I guess the speaker isn't complacent with the sword.
