Dutch term or phrase: smu
This is, I assume, an acronym and probably an English one at that. A description of a device for extracting dust contains a list of parts including:

"Metu koppeling smu Ø100"

This allows a piece of tubing to be clamped to a hood. The company catalogue simply calls the part a "tensioning clamp" but what does "smu" stand for? "Metu" by the way I am assuming is a brand name.

Hi Brian, I have been talking to a builder's merchant who sells these and as far as they are aware it is a product name and has no other meaning, so SMU would be the correct translation.
