Discussing NAATI accreditation, past and upcoming conferences etc Apr 6, 2017

Hi all!

I think Melbourne is long overdue for a Powwow so I decided to organise one. Things that I would be happy to discuss:
* NAATI accreditation and planned changes to the process
* ProZ international conference in Stockholm in 2016, which I attended
* Upcoming short courses in T&I at Monash University

...And anything else that people would like to talk about!

Hi Sofia!

It is good to hear about Melbourne Powwow. I would love to attend!
If it is between May 1st and May 16th, I would be able to participate and meet other translators to share ideas.
Well, for me, Sydney would be a better venue but Melbourne is also fine. I would be glad to talk about the following with the participants:
- NAATI accreditation and prep tips
- What one can expect from MA degree in T&I
- Audiovisual translation which is one of my specialties (As this is a not very general topic for translators, I would like to talk about it only if others wish to, as well.)

Hope more to join!

Fingers crossed.

Location Apr 9, 2017

Hi jinahkim,

Thanks for being interested in the Powwow! I have put the date as the last Friday in April - could you make it then or will you be out of the country? I haven't picked a location yet but it will be a restaurant somewhere in the city centre.

Hello and welcome to all the people who have recently expressed an interest in attending this Powwow.

I would like to suggest that we have this Powwow at a ramen restaurant called Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen (http://www.ikkoryu.com.au/). The address is 27 Russel Street, Melbourne, and it is a relatively short walk from Flinders Street Station. The Powwow will start at 6:30 pm.

Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements (since the restraurant may not be suitable then), and please confirm if you are attending on Friday, as I will try to book us a table.

Thank you!

Thank you, Sonia. I hope that we'll get to meet you this Friday and don't worry if you are running a bit late.

People confirmed or likely/maybe Apr 28, 2017

Hi everyone,

Just to check, I am expecting the following people at the Powwow tonight: Sonia Sánchez Moreno (may be late), Hans Hatton, Margherita Angelucci + friend, Marc (mmb42). I booked a table for 4 yesterday but I am sure they can squeeze a couple more people in, it looks like a fairly big place

Sofia
