XML Preview and stylesheets

Hi,

I'm preparing a presentation around various technologies that work with many translation tools. One of these is XSLT for XML previews. I know I can create custom XML filetypes in Déjà vu but I can't figure out how to get a preview or even if it's possible to use stylesheets.

Can anyone point me towards some documentation on this so I can educate myself?

Thank you

Paul

Hi Paul,

Welcome here!

I'm not sure of what you mean exactly.
Are you talking about XSLT used to convert XML files into HTML, PDF, ePUB, etc., to allow you to see previews of whatever the XML file contains?

Please detail what you would like to achieve and - if DVX3 offers this - I'll be happy to provide you with all the relevant documentation.

Kind regards,
Etienne... See more

Exactly. In Studio and memoQ for example you can add a stylesheet to a custom XML filetype that you have created and this allows you to see a pretty print version of the file in context as you work based on an html rendition of the data in the XML.

Is this a feature offerred in Déjà Vu too? I could not find a way to do this and the preview is always greyed out... but I am a newbie with this tool so don't wish to under represent the capabilities in my presentation.

Thank you

Paul

Unfortunately, DVX3 does not support this as of today.
While creating/customizing an XML filter is of course possible, previewing the print version is not.
Preview is still available for XML files - but in this case we call it "Live context", which means that you can see the code while translating.

That's something that is worth adding to future versions of Déjà Vu.
Thank you for reaching out and have a great day Paul!

Kind regards,
Etienne
